About time, wasn't it, that I made a newer and more extensive list of "goth appropriate" music. Here you will find bands old and new from all around the world. It's difficult to define what "goth music" is exactly, is it a certain sound, or it is music goths like? The eternal question/online debate. So I've included both, loads of bands with the classic bleak goth rock or darkwave sounds, plus others that goths are known to like or you're likely to hear played in clubs or performed at festivals.
There's a lot of musical crossover in the "black scene" but I've tried to keep this list fairly genre-specific, thus excluding a lot of deathrock, post-punk, gothic metal, electro, shock rock, dark ambient, and so forth. I hope this list serves as a good starting point if you're looking for new stuff to get into. There's always more out there so feel free to leave a comment if there's another artist you'd like to mention. I've linked each one to Spotify where possible, otherwise Bandcamp or YouTube. Happy listening!

ReplyDeleteHiya! Boy Harsher just released their new album called 'Careful'.
ReplyDeleteIt's a fantastic album, I've been listening to it nonstop!
My favourite tracks on the album are: 'Lost', 'Fate' and 'LA'. ('Lost' is a beautiful song!)
Unfortunately Matthew Carl isn't part of the scene anymore.
ReplyDeleteI've Recently been to Rock Cemetery in Nottingham where hes's standing
Please add Cocteau Twins, and The Birthday Party!
ReplyDeleteThis stuff is incredible but I think "Cassandra Complex", "Paralisis Permanente", "OTO", "Intrance 95", "Wolfenshiem", "Agnes Circle", "Linea Aspera", "Red Zebra", "L'ansia di gretel", "The Sound", "Sixth June" and "The Chamelions" can be added here!.

ReplyDeleteHante. I noticed isn't on here, and I love her. Worth checking out. Thanks for this list!
ReplyDeleteI heard the don't Angela by Earth Calling Angela in one of her old videos and have been obsessed with it ever since. Any recommendations for groups or songs with a similar sound?
ReplyDeleteSongs* not don't.

ReplyDeleteAutumn Tears, Claire Voyant, Dark Sanctuary, Love is Colder Than Death, and The Shroud are also some amazing goth bands.
ReplyDeleteProof of ancient music is inadequate, since there was no language to depict the sound to relatives. singer

ReplyDeleteCan you make a Spotify or YouTube playlist for this list, please?
ReplyDeleteHave you listened to Zeromancer? They are so addictive
ReplyDeleteI made a Spotify playlist with all the bands that were on Spotify. It's called "Darkwave" and my Spotify is princessofpunk246. I was 12 when I chose the name. it's a little cringey but whatever.
ReplyDeleteMaybe not necessarily for this list per say, but some of you might like Psyclon Nine and Dawn of Ashes.
ReplyDeleteHow about King Dude, Chelsea Wolfe, Kælan Mikla, Drab Majesty, Them Are Us Too? They are not genre specific but I’d say they are pretty goth-friendly. This list seems big so maybe I missed them but I thought I’d throw them out there for consideration!
ReplyDelete.
You're missing SRSQ!
ReplyDeleteAnd Opera De Nuit!

ReplyDeleteJust a little percent of bands at this level perform full time, and for this situation, might be more expert leaning. It's essential to likewise take note of that most of bands in this classification are more centered around themselves, which means, the show is about them, and not the crowd. buy followers for twitch
